Major Drug Bust in Hubballi: CCB and Bendigeri Police Nab 12 Suspects
On Friday, the Hubballi City Crime Branch (CCB) and Bendigeri Police successfully apprehended 12 individuals allegedly involved in a ganja selling operation within the city.
The arrested suspects include Keshab Chandra and Nilambar Rajput from Odisha, Tousif Ahemed of Haveri, and several Old Hubballi residents: Pavan, Siddarath, Manjunath, Nadeem, Vittal, Shanawaz, and Karthik. Additionally, Mohammed Ali from Uttarakhand and Ganapathas from Kamaripet were also taken into custody.
During the spot inspection, three of the accused—Keshab Chandra, Nilambar, and Tousif Ahemed—attempted to flee by assaulting two police constables, Patil and Hedderi. However, the police quickly overpowered and recaptured them. The injured constables are currently receiving treatment at KIMS hospital.
The police seized 2.5 kg of ganja valued at Rs 2.50 lakh, along with a Swift Dzire car, Rs 2,000 in cash, one dagger, two swords, and 10 mobile phones from the suspects.
Town Police Apprehend Drug Peddlers
In a separate operation, the Dharwad Town police successfully nabbed four ganja peddlers and confiscated 1,942 grams of ganja worth Rs 1.91 lakh. The arrested individuals are Saifali Shabbir Sutar and Sanket Balu Koth, both from Solapur, and Sandeep Dayanand Salake and Hazarath Ali Akbarsha Makandar, both residents of Dharwad.
Acting on a credible tip-off, the police arrested the suspects near Nuchambli Bhavi.
